Mount St. Joseph Retreat House is a popular and spacious place of quiet and prayer. It is run by the Jesuits of the Province of Malta. It is geographically situated in the middle of the Island.
Priority is given to spiritual retreats and prayer seminars. However, the house is big enough to be able to hosts more than one activity at the same time. Provided that rooms are available guests who would like to come to the Island of Malta to enjoy a peaceful rest in a religious house are welcome.
Recently
in 2004/05 the entire retreat house has undergone an
extensive refurbishing project and now enjoys a maximum of
40 twin-bedded rooms all with 'ensuite'. There are three halls (two of which can accommodate 100 plus people), equipped with multi-media resources. There are also small rooms for group-work around the house. Residents are offered a full board accommodation.
The house is on the boundary that separates the built-up area from the green area. The house enjoys beautiful views of St. Paul's Bay which is four kilometres away. From the house one has a splendid view of the fortified medieval city of Mdina. Public transport to Valletta, the capital of Malta, is at
walking distance. A community of eight Jesuits are in residence. Four members of the community and a small number of lay well-trained retreat guides form a team to assist people coming for retreats, spiritual direction and prayer accompaniment.
