Call- Employment Programme Coordinator

JRS Malta is seeking to recruit a FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME COORDINATOR on a one-year definite term contract to work with migrants and asylum seekers in Malta. This document outlines the qualifications required for the post as well as the job description.

 

Qualifications

Applicants must:

→   be  in  possession  of  a degree  equivalent  to  Level  6  of  the  Malta  Qualifications

Framework (preferably in one of the social sciences)

→   be able to speak and write English fluently

→   be able to work independently and take initiative

→   have excellent communication and organisational skills

→   be flexible and have the ability to work in a team

→   be willing to work with and for people from diverse cultures

→   possess a driving license (preferably own transport)

Familiarity with Maltese employment law and a working knowledge of Maltese will be considered an asset.


Summary

The Employment Programme Coordinator will work to ensure that migrants and asylum seekers are able to obtain stable employment and achieve the goals of local integration and self-sufficiency. S/he will work under the direct supervision of the psychosocial team coordinator.

 

Job description

The selected candidate will be expected to work as part of a team.

The EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME COORDINATOR will:

→   Provide  a  full  range  of  employment  services  to  migrants  and  asylum  seekers including; meeting with individual clients to assess their skills and qualifications, develop and implement an individual employment and/or training plan, working on interview   preparation,   conducting   employment   searches,   linking   clients   with employers and attending initial meetings with prospective employers.

→   Follow  up  of  individuals  who  found  employment  through  the  service  and  keep updated records of services provided, companies contacted and clients served. 

→   Organize/Coordinate several Employment Orientation Courses on topics such as:

attending an interview, time management, rights at the work place, etc

→   Liaise with potential employers to create a pool of employers who would be willing to employ refugees in accordance with national labour legislation. Maintain a collaborative relationship with such employers.

→   Organize events such as recruitment drives or seminars for prospective employers aimed at facilitating migrants and asylum seekers’ access to the labour market.

→   Assist with any other tasks that may be required.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview and to undertake a number of tasks, which may include spending some time in the office in order to better understand the nature of the organisation’s work, before a final decision is taken.
