Multicultural event at St Ġorġ Preca College Pieta Primary School

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Malta held a multicultural event today at St Gorg Preca College Pieta Primary in collaboration with the school itself as part of a project partly funded by the European Refugee Fund (ERF) entitled “Promoting the Integration of Refugee Children through Awareness Raising”.

The event was aimed at enhancing awareness and appreciation of the diversity of people and cultures in Malta today through the active participation of local and foreign school children and parents alike.

The school was buzzing as activities were set up by young students representing more than 12 nationalities, including exhibition stands, ethnic food, music and presentations. There were cildren wearing traditional costumes from various countries representing their own diverse cultures, while volunteers from JRS held cultural activities including music, hair braiding, drum circles and ethnic food.

Children from as many as seventeen different countries attend the school, learning to communicate, play, mix and learn together as only children know how!
